6 Year Yard transformation

I'm joining transformation Thursday at Shabby Chic Cottage with one of my biggest projects ever.

I recently moved all my photos from my old computer to my laptop. I have been enjoying looking at all the old photos of friends and family. I have also enjoyed looking at the transformation of our yard over the years.

When we bought our house in 2001, one thing I was not completly happy with was the yard. I loved that the yard is private because we do not have neighbours behind. I loved that the yard was extra deep, and I loved the hill in the back (the kids loved tobagganing down it in winter!). The thing I did not like about the yard was that it was completely all grass. There was not a tree, bush or flower in the entire yard.

Over the years we have been transforming the yard by planting tons of things. It seems to take forever for trees to grow. Looking at my old pictures I can see how much everything has changed. I am well on my way to the lush landscape I dreamt of.

We have trimmed these front shrubs many times to keep them from getting out of control. We still have the lopsided steps. Someday we are going to replace them :-)

That little tiny tree is now that big, at least 3o ft tall tree! We have a new shade structure which is now over the patio. The shed was placed between the little bush and the patio stone along the fence.

I had to take this picture from another window because the tree has grown so big.

My lilacs have grown. My garden is over-grown :-0

OHHHH! My shed needs a power wash! I did the front last year, but not that back, and it shows :-)

  3. I love seeing pictures of before and after. Hubby and I have a fixer-upper, and I wish I would have taken better before pictures. It's coming along, but I think it would shock us how awful the place was when we bought it.
Thanks for sharing these with us! :-)

  4. I can't believe how much the trees have grown in just a few years!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on the chair. I'm sure you're right about the plywood adding to the firmness of the seat. Of course, I've known people to add plywood under the cushions when the springs go bad and get too saggy, so maybe this is just saving a step!
